2) What are we doing in the photograph above?

The photograph above shows one of our bits of test equipment measuring some missing electrical current from the customers electrical system. Sometimes electrical current disappears from electrical circuits and leaks to earth. Strange, eh? 😊 When this happens, you may find that you have switches start tripping in your electric box and all sorts of problems with lights going off, sockets going off and general havoc in your home. The test equipment we are using here finds missing electrical current and tells us roughly how much is missing. This is great for us because we can then find out where it is coming from and start to carry out further investigation. You see, we enjoy the electrical emergencies the best. We like to investigate the electrical faults and find out what’s happening. It’s like a game of Cluedo involving electricians, test equipment and your electrical system. There is a great deal of satisfaction when we find another electrical fault and get it sorted for our customers.

3) What are we doing in the photograph below?

This little box of tricks is part of an outdoor security light system. The home has several floodlights fitted and none of them were working so we hopped into the loft to check what was happening and came across this little box of tricks. This is a control box for the outdoor wireless flood-light sensors. The separate flood-light sensors send a signal to this box when any one of them is activated and this box sends a signal to another piece of equipment which then turns on all the floodlights together.

Really clever, eh?

The fault turned out to be nothing to do with this box of tricks or the other equipment in the loft but all the sensors’ batteries had died meaning a fight with a wasp’s nest and some jumping off step ladders to get the job done. Once all the batteries were changed, we used our walkie talkies to check everything was working with one of us in the loft and the other running around outside pretending to be a burglar activating the floodlight sensors.
