Electrician in Liverpool - out of hours electrician

Are there any out of hours electricians in Liverpool?⚡

As an OUT OF HOURS ELECTRICIAN we are able to attend emergencies. If you have an electrical emergency or need a 24 hour electrician in your area then you are reading the right article. We are a small family business not a national call centre. We cover all areas between Liverpool and Leigh and if you need an emergency electrician now then give us a call on either 0151 351 4011 or 01925 595 980.

There are plenty of out of hours electricians available on Google but what is not clear is if they are local to you or if you will get through to a call centre? Check out their Google reviews and see what their previous customers say, check out their website and see if they have photographs of themselves and their work and then ask them questions when you call up to book. 😊 We are always happy to answer customer questions and offer advice where we can. This can be done during normal working hours over the phone and using our contact form via email. We only take out of hours calls for customers that require us to attend their property immediately. 😊

Can every problem be fixed on the first visit?🤔

No. Unfortunately not. We can fix a lot of problems first time and we always try. There are some circumstances that mean a “first time fix” is not always possible. Examples of this could include:

  • The need to order special or obsolete parts.
  • Extensive damage requiring remedial works and further parts.
  • Damage where the repair would take several hours and may need booking in.
  • Where costs could be saved with a return visit during normal hours.
  • Where furniture and possessions need to be move or access needs to be created.

Emergency electricians charge by the hour until the problem is fixed or made safe and as a result, we are morally obligated to try to keep costs down for our customers. We can do this by carrying out as much as possible in our allotted time and if we need access made, possessions moved and other things then we will tell you and offer to come back when the path is clear. That way you are only paying us to do our work and not move things around 😊

There could also be the issue of making excessive noise such as the requirement for drilling to run new cables, swapping a damage consumer unit or other noisy electrical works. When this is the case, it is often much better to make safe any issues and return the next day or in the following days to make a permanent repair.
Having said all that, most issues are fixed on the first visit within the hour.

What should I call an emergency electrician for?📞

There are a number of reasons why you might need to call an out of hours electrician or emergency electrician to your home. For instance:

  • Power cut: If you happen to have a power cut or several intermittent power cuts you may need an emergency electrician to come out and investigate the reasons why. It is a good idea to call free on 105 first though as there may be a problem with the electricity supply to your home rather than an issue inside your home. Calling 105 will put you through to the nearest distribution network operator who look after the electricity network in your area and they will be able to tell you if there are known problems with the electricity supply in your area.
  • Flickering lights: If you have flickering lights, it could be a sign of electrical problems on the lighting circuit or on other electrical circuits in your home. There may be a number of non-dangerous reasons for this but it is something that you should have checked out by an electrician who will be able to investigate the problem for you.
  • Burning Smell: If you smell an unusual fishy, plastic smell or any burning smell then there could be an issue with your electrical system. If this happens then its best to call an electrician and ask their advice. We will normally advise to turn off all your electrics and recommend we come straight away to investigate the cause of the problem. Burning smells are indicating that there is overheating, electrical problems and potentially fire happening. These types of issues should be investigated without delay.
  • Pops & Bangs: When there are these types of electrical noises occurring in the property, it is never a good sign. Electrical pops and bangs can be incredibly loud and indicate that there are serious
problems with the electrical installation in your home. These types of sounds typically occur when an electrical circuit ‘shorts out’ causing arcing, sparking, fire risk and little explosions as hundreds of amps of electrical current flow through the circuit.
  • Broken Sockets & Switches: When electrical accessories such as sockets and switches become damaged, they can be incredibly dangerous. Cracking, discoloured and wobbly accessories can prove to be an electric shock risk as often signs of damage on the surface of these items’ masks much more serious damage below.
  • Loose fuse box / consumer unit: The consumer unit is the brains of the electrical system. It provides much of the electrical safety for your home and also contains the incoming mains cables which it split into circuits and distributes around your home. If this box is loose, you are at risk of power loss, electrical shocks and fire occurring in serious cases. You should not attempt to secure this box yourself and should contact an electrician to come and sort this out for you as a matter of urgency.

An OUT OF HOURS ELECTRICIAN will be able to help with these problems and many more. If your issue is not listed above, it does not mean it is not urgent. If you have concerns over the safety of your electrical system then ask us to help. We are often able to help online via WhatsApp, Email, and photographs of your electrical installation.
