1) Are there any 24-Hour Electricians?
1.0.1) When you are looking for a “24 HOUR ELECTRICIAN NEAR ME” you will sometimes have to search a little farther away than in the same town or village.
There are many electricians that carry out normal day to day work on building sites, in domestic homes and in commercial properties and they will mostly work 8 am to 4 pm, 5 days per week.
A 24-hour electrician is prepared to work out of hours to assist people with electrical emergencies that they may have or carry out repairs out of hours when commercial premises are closed for example. These types of electricians may also work weekends as they understand that a lot of people work during the week and will not be at home to have electrical work carried out.
There are certainly fewer electricians that are prepared to work 24 hours or be on call for emergencies and as such there are fewer results that appear on internet searches for this.
Back to top2) How do I find a local emergency electrician?
An internet search will usually result in a few results. Sponsored results on Google are often those that have paid adverts to appear in the search results. There are national companies that advertise that they are local but advertise all over the country and then will call a local emergency electrician that is on their books to come and assist you. This will normally require a fee paid to the company and then a further fee paid to the electrician that attends to repair or find your electrical problem.
It is often more convenient to use these kinds of companies for customers with an emergency as they can usually find an electrician far quicker for you than you could yourself by calling around several electricians out of hours.
Back to top3) How do I know if an electrician is good or not?
On Google, there are many different electricians and companies offering electrician services. It is often a good idea to check out their Google reviews to see what they are all about. Do not simply read the bad ones, also read the good. When people have left comments, it is more helpful than simply a rating and you can gather a lot of information simply from the comments in the reviews.
The more reviews the better really as this shows they have served many happy customers and the proof is there to read. “24 HOUR ELECTRICIAN NEAR ME” is a popular search term and can bring up lots of companies that are located far away or even abroad so its best to do a bit of searching. Look on the website for the faces and names of people that will be attending, do they have any videos? Are they truly local or within 15 miles or so?
An emergency electrician is normally more proficient at fault finding than a regular electrician. Most electricians can find a fault however if someone specialises in emergency work and fault finding then it is likely that they will find the fault more quickly than someone that spends their time wiring up new houses for a builder for example.
Conversely, it is likely that a rewire will be completed quicker by an electrician specialising in that.
Back to top4) How do I pay an emergency electrician?
It is normal for an emergency tradesperson to require up front payment for the first hour before they get out of bed, load all the tools in the van and drive over to your house so be prepared for this. Nearly every company I know of asks for the same. They require a fee in order to despatch an emergency trades person.
Payment can then usually be made by debit or credit card as a lot of emergency tradespersons will have a machine that they carry on them for your convenience. There is no fun trying to sort out online banking or running the cash machine in the middle of the night.
Back to top5) What does an emergency out of hours electrician cost?
Every company will charge slightly differently. We have a set pricing for our attendance and labour and it is all laid out on our emergency electrician page for you to see. That way, you can check you are happy with the price before you call us. We often don’t want to chat at 2am but are happy to attend to an emergency where you already know our charges 😊

Back to top6) What if I cannot find a local 24-hour electrician?
As mentioned, not many electricians will work out of hours. We are happy to attend emergencies out of hours if you need us and you can find the areas, we cover on our areas covered page here:
https://www.electricalfaultsfixed.co.uk/areas-i-cover
In the case that you cannot find a local emergency electrician then simply Google a little further afield and you will find emergency electricians in other areas. Most of use are happy to travel a little in order to come and help you when you need us. It is normal for emergency tradespersons to have to travel a little way in the middle of the night. Traffic is often much lighter in the night time and easier to get to places further afield.
Back to top7) How much will my electrical problems cost to fix?
Once the initial investigation is carried out by your electrician, they will be able to tell you how much the problem will cost to fix. It is often impossible to give a customer a fixed price quote to repair a problem without investigation first. Simply stating that switch is tripping is not information for us to produce a quote. It is a common misconception that a switch tripping means a faulty switch and therefore a quote for replacement is needed. It is more likely that there is an issue with the wiring NOT the switch and quoting to replace a switch would not fix the issue and would likely end up costing more as a result ☹
Don’t worry. Any questions you have about your electrical problems are usually answered on our website in the blogs and help sheets and if you need to chat about your electrical issues then give us a call during normal working hours and we will be happy to help. Alternatively, send us an email to:
