Electrical Inspection
The importance of a regular electrical inspection is highlighted to us by the astonishing regularity that we see burnt out consumer units, melted circuit breakers, dangerous wiring, undersized cables, tripping electrics and the very occasional small fire.
As can be seen from the picture above, the slow smouldering and melting of this old consumer unit could have been prevented if the installation had been subject to a thorough inspection. One of the many items that we check on an inspection is the tightness of connections. This is NOT something that an unskilled or unqualified person can undertake. Often these connections are subject to manufacturer’s instructions or recommended torque / tightness and this can only be checked with specialist equipment carried by some electricians.
Lots of other issues are checked on an electrical inspection and not every inspection is the same. We always check as much as we can, as thoroughly as we can. Be wary of cheap electrical inspections, a thorough check of an average property 3 bedroom property should take at least 2 to 3 hours possibly longer. Your electrician should be able to explain all the findings of their investigation to you clearly along with any recommendations.
We regularly carry out Electrical Inspections and subsequent fault finding on behalf of many different insurers and home purchasers.
If you are planning on purchasing a home that is perhaps a little older or you are unsure of the condition of the electrical wiring system, call us, get us in to check it for you! The older the home the more likely there are to be issues with the wiring.
