1) My floodlight has stopped working can you fix it?
We are often called to properties in the Liverpool area, where an outdoor floodlight has failed and will either no longer operate correctly, will stay on continually or will not come on at all. There are times when we are called to properties where an electrical fault is causing a consumer unit switch to trip and power to be lost to parts or all the property. We sometimes find that a poorly installed floodlight (like the in the photograph) is at fault!
With regards to fixing a faulty floodlight, more often than not, no we cannot fix it. These lights are made to be replaced generally and at the moment very few lights have replaceable LEDs (the bits that create light) and normally it is only possible to replace the entire fitting.
Back to top2) My floodlight is hanging off the wall can you secure it?
We can absolutely help you out. If you are worried about your floodlight, the quality of the installation or the safety of the installation then call us straightaway and we will come out and sort the problem for you. We can often communicate over messenger applications, email, or video chat to have a look at the problem more quickly and more conveniently for you. It is not always possible to conduct a visit to your home to quote every job, certain jobs fall under our “minimum charge” which is listed under the “how much is it” or “prices” section on our website.
A floodlight that is hanging off the wall is not safe and will cause further problems if left. Mechanical strain on cables can cause electrical faults, water ingress, cable damage and potential electric shock risk to persons in the vicinity. If the floodlight has fallen off the wall, then it is best to have a professional come and replace the light / reinstall the light for you. Fixings should not fail to hold a floodlight to the wall.
Back to top3) My floodlight is faulty, and I need a replacement can you do this?
Yes, we carry floodlights in stock and can replace them at short notice generally. We can install 10 watt floodlights up to 50-watt floodlights with motion sensors. If you have a very large area you wish to light with floodlights, then we can obtain larger units and standalone motion sensors.
If you just require a single floodlight swapping, then we can happily carry this out for you as well.
A Faulty Floodlight can be a nuisance for people in your home and your neighbours. We have known faulty outdoor floodlights to flash, to stay on and to generally annoy the neighbours and everyone in the bedrooms near the light!
Back to top4) What kind of floodlights do you install? Are they good quality?
We install high quality floodlights that stand the test of time. We use a high quality, readily available brand that we know to be reliable and sturdy. The last thing we want is call backs to a job where a poor-quality fitting has failed. This costs us time and money, not to mention a poor reputation. We sometimes change brands of floodlight when something new comes to the market but generally only use brands we know to be highly reliable and often are installed in commercial applications where longevity is of paramount importance.
Back to top5) How much does a replacement floodlight cost?
Typically, a straightforward swap where power is already in place and there are no issues to rectify will be the most economic install. Prices start from £120 (at the time of writing) and increase depending upon installation location, number and wattage of lights required, cable run necessary to move or install lights and so on. Each quote can vary but we are happy to take a look for you and create a personalised quote.
Back to top6) How soon can you install a floodlight for me?
We can normally fit in works such as this relatively quickly as the jobs tend to be straightforward and take less than half a day including any necessary electrical safety testing. Give us a call to check our availability and book in with us. At certain times of year there may be a longer wait for our services such as Christmas for example. We can always give you and indication of waiting times when you call.
Back to top7) I have an old halogen floodlight that has stopped working, can you replace the lamp for me?
This is a question that we are sometimes asked and the answer is normally dependent upon a few things.
- The condition of the existing floodlight, old halogen fittings are normally well rusted and difficult or impossible to open to replace the lamp inside.
- The lamp may not be at fault, it may be the sensor in which case a new fitting is normally the only option.
- The cost to you of our attendance versus the cost of attending and installing a new fitting.
We always recommend these old halogen fittings are replaced. Typical 500-watt halogen lights can be replaced by 50 watt LED floodlights and achieve the same level of brightness an illumination with a tenth of the power and ongoing electricity cost, which these days is VERY IMPORTANT.
If you believe you have a FAULTY FLOODLIGHT then call us for a chat, a no obligation quote or book us in straight away to change the fitting for a nice new modern LED fitting for you.
We cover all areas between South Liverpool and along the M62 / East Lancs to Lowton / Golborne.
