One of the most common parts of an electrical installation that fail is the sockets.
The electrical accessory which we plug most of our home equipment in to. The electrical sockets in a home go unnoticed by many of us as they are hidden behind appliances like microwaves, toasters and so on but these accessories can occasionally go wrong.
Switches on these can fail and cause your fuseboard / consumer unit to trip. Internal connections can fail causing power loss to appliances making you think an appliance has gone faulty. High resistances can occur due to lose connections in plugs, sockets and at the terminals on the rear of sockets causing issues with overheating and melting.
These electrical sockets usually provide years of good service in our homes and some even decades, but we take them for granted. When did you last expect a light bulb to last 30 years? A car to run for 30 years without servicing? An electrical appliance to last 30 years? These mighty little sockets will go one for decades if good quality equipment is installed correctly in the first place. 😊
However, when they do go wrong, you need an Electrician. We are here to help. Do not attempt repairs yourself! Only a properly qualified and trained electrician will have the correct test equipment and knowledge to test the work after completion and interpret the test results. Testing is just as important as good installation. Without a test after installation, we have NO IDEA if the work is safe, has been carried out to the required standard of BS7671 or complies with disconnection times for the switchgear within your consumer unit!! Technical right???
We take care of all of this, we can repair, replace, test, install, provide certification, and make sure that the electrical installation within your home is safe, the work we do correctly installed and that any anomalies we uncover during testing are noted to you.
The photograph above shows a socket that had gone bad and caused the consumer unit to trip. Whilst we were there we also fixed another problem that the customer had been living with for 2 years. Straightforward, no fuss, no mess.
If you need an electrician then give us a call, we cover lots of different areas across Liverpool, Widnes and Warrington as far as Lowton and Golborne.
