What is a wireless switch? Your local Liverpool electrician is here to awnser your questions.
Wireless switching is a new and clever technology. The switches that operate the lights in your home normally need wires attached to them so that they can turn the lights on and off. A Wireless Switch requires NO wires.
There are different brands available and the type that we use are very clever. Not only do they require NO wires, they need NO batteries either. They are completely wireless in every way. In fact, you could walk around your home with the wireless switch just turning the lights on and off!
How does the technology work?
The wireless switch contains a small transmitter. When the switch is pressed, the action of doing so generates a tiny amount of energy. This is enough energy for the switch to send a signal to the receiver. When the receiver gets this signal, it turns the electricity supply on to the light. Very clever!
You can see that this installation we have completed contains these boxes above the consumer unit / fuse box. These boxes contain all the receivers for our wireless switching system. The whole house has wireless switching to all the lights. Each light can be switched on and off from anywhere in the house with a wireless switch, from anywhere in the world with a mobile app on a smartphone, dimmed or brightened to suit.
What else have you done at this installation?
We have installed a state-of-the-art security and camera system. Gate entry intercom system linked to the cameras and alarm that can be opened via an app. All cameras have talkback so you can speak to potential intruders to alert them that the property is alarmed and police are on the way. The camera system is of the highest quality and remains in colour all night whilst the security system will be set off before a burglar can even enter the property. We have really gone all out to protect this property with no expense spared and using only the best technology and highest quality products.
Back to wireless switching, what are the possibilities?
Well, you can switch bedside lamps on and off from anywhere in the room for instance. Like a nice hotel has light switches at the bedside for all the lights in the room? We can do that for you. You can have almost as many switches as you like for each light and if budget allows, we can control as many lights separately as you wish.
If you are planning a wireless switch project then contact us and see if we can help you.
Wireless switching can help in situations where there has been an electrical fault or damage to a cable. We can ignore the faulty section of cable and install a wireless switch and received allowing the light to continue to function.
