Light fitter near me

1) We were asked to fit a new light fitting that a customer had purchased. They had been decorating this room and the light fitting was the last finishing touch.

We were happy to oblige and do not have an issue tackling small jobs like a replacement light fitting, socket, switch, or electrical fault.

If you are looking for a LIGHT FITTER NEAR ME then look no further, you have found us. We are a local electrician and cover between Liverpool and Leigh tackling all the little electrical jobs that you just cannot get someone out to do.

2) Can I have any light fitting installed anywhere?πŸ’‘

Almost. When installing a replacement light fitting there are sometimes a few issues that an electrician may encounter. For instance, older wiring systems tend to have many cables coming out of the ceiling where the light fitting is and some new light fittings will only accept one cable coming in. This can be a bit of a headache and involve creating a safe wiring junction above the light fitting in order to comply with wiring regulations and to make the safe installation of your light fitting possible. This may or may not be easy to achieve depending on what is installed above the light fitting.

3) Will there be damage to repair?πŸ’

This depends on the condition of the plaster ceiling where the light fitting is to be installed. It is not uncommon in older properties for the aging plaster to have become loose and fail when disturbed. This is not the fault of the electrician but rather the age of the property indicating that a new ceiling may soon be required.

An electrician may well carry out some β€˜making good’ with filler is stated in their terms and conditions of their quote. Always make sure to get a written quote from your electrician. A cheap price may be very tempting but if nothing is stated in writing you could end up getting stung for extras once the job starts. ☹

Where a light fitting is rather large and its replacement is much smaller you can expect to have a different ceiling paint colour to contend with afterwards. Again, not the fault of the electrician but rather an unforeseen issue that now needs to be dealt with. Whilst not damage, a different paint colour can be rather irritating and if there are no end of tins left in the garden shed then it may be that the ceiling must be repainted once the new light fitting is installed.

4) Can the new fitting be installed in a new position?πŸ’‘

A common question asked by customers. Can a light fitting be moved and installed in a new position? Yes absolutely, HOWEVER, if cables are extended in order to carry out this work, then the electrician must carry out testing and inspection and ensure that any alteration to the lighting circuit is carried out in accordance with current wiring regulations. This is to ensure YOUR safety in your home and not to simply create work or irritation. ☹ Our wiring regulations are incredibly in depth, technical and are there to ensure the safety of everyone around electricity. At nearly 600 pages long the book is quite daunting but also quite clear on the requirements.

If a light fitting is moved then it may be necessary to extend the electrical cabling in order to move it and when this happens a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate should be produced along with the relevant testing to certify that the work has been carried out in accordance with the BS7671 wiring regulations and that the existing circuit is safe to work on and has no defects.

Expect to pay more for this service than a standard light fitting installation fee as there is more work involved.

5) How much is a light fitting installation?πŸ’°

Each company will charge a differing amount depending upon their overheads and costs. A standard light fitting, non-chandelier type that requires little assembly would be much cheaper than an extravagant chandelier requiring building and two-person installation with potentially scaffold, think Only Fools and Horses and the Chandelier sketch. 😊

For basic light fittings we charge our MINIMUM CHARGE which can be found on our COSTS page on our website.

For two or more fittings we normally discount beyond the first fitting so please contact us with as much information as possible for an accurate quote.

When checking prices for light fitting installation please also remember that you are paying for a service and not a product so a cheaper price may not mean the same service. We promise not to be the cheapest quote, in fact, we guarantee it, but we will offer great service and after care. 😊

If you need a LIGHT FITTER NEAR ME and are between Liverpool and Leigh then we can certainly help with your lighting project. Contact us today!
