1) In this article we will be looking at the REWIRE HOUSE UK COST for 2023 / 2024. Electrical Faults Fixed - Liverpool & Warrington.

There are many factors that affect the cost of a rewire in a UK property and as such, a fixed price for all houses will not be possible to guess but we can estimate and get a rough idea before you start contacting electricians for quotes. First thing is first, the paperwork. At the time of writing, the requirements for documentation following a rewire are that the homeowner should receive an Electrical Installation Certificate and a Building Control Compliance certificate. The electrician should be able to provide both of these, included in the quote price. Beware a cheap rewire that does not include this documentation as no responsibility will be taken for the installation and you will be left in a pickle! ☹

Now ask yourself...

2) How many sockets do I want?⚡

The more electrical sockets and switches that you require the higher the cost is going to be so first thing is first, work out how many sockets you need and where they need to go.  Do not try and save money by putting one socket in each room as not many electricians will agree to this due to the risk of overloading sockets and extension leads. Be sensible, if you currently need three sockets in the living room, add another so that there is a spare one when inevitably something else is purchased that requires an electrical socket to power it.

3) How many switches do I need?

A larger number of light switches will require further cable runs and more work therefore more money but once again, do not just opt for one switch on the landing when you have a great big 5-bedroom detached home as this is likely to be a danger in the dark and many electricians will insist that you have a minimum number of sockets and switches in order for the electrical installation to operate safely. On the same note, if you wish to turn off the bedroom lights from either side of the bed, the bedroom door and the ensuite then it’s entirely possible for electricians to do this for you but will obviously involve more cost than a single light switch at the bedroom door.

4) Don’t forget about other electrical equipment in the home!🏠

When you are considering your needs for your home rewire and need to know the REWIRE HOUSE UK COST remember that your gas boiler needs power as well. Your automated garage door, outside lighting, shed supply and gas hob all need electrical supply to them for them to work. Do you want an electric shower installed? A car charger? Are you likely to want more sockets in the kitchen? All of these things need to be considered.

5) What about internet and data?

Hardwiring is always better for signal than wireless regardless of how good technology becomes. It is entirely possible for your electrician to run a data point to each room during the rewire so that items can be hardwired and even a WIFI mesh system can be set up for you to experience flawless WIFI on mobile devices in each room. A WIFI mesh system works best when each point is hard wired.

6) Electric Shower?🚿

If you are intending to have an electrical shower installed along with the electrical supply for this then this is likely to add to the cost significantly. When rewiring the property more powerful circuits require larger cables and electric shower units can run expensive depending on brand and model.

7) Smoke detectors?

No home rewire is complete without considering fire safety. Make sure not to skimp on smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detection. Hard wiring these devices is best as they are generally more reliable than battery only devices. It’s always best to have these done at the same time as other wiring rather than asking your electrician to come back and install these afterwards.

8) Garage supply or shed?🌿

Don’t forget that you may need or want power to your garage or shed as well. The cost of running power to a garden shed or garage can vary depending upon cable route, if it needs to be buried, distance from the property and the amount of sockets and switches required in the garage or shed. Remember its always best to try and get all the wiring done at the same time as its nearly always more cost effective over having two visits from the electricians. Your electrician can design the whole electrical system at the same time as well saving additional expense.

You need to ensure that will receive the correct certification for the work to prevent possible home insurance becoming invalid and any issues when selling your home. Check the chosen companies Google profile and their reviews to ascertain if they are likely to do a good job for you.
