Electrical problems can begin at any time and often show no signs for many months or even years. When an electrical emergency occurs, there is a good chance that the problem actually started a while ago and has gone unnoticed. As your local EMERGENCY ELECTRICIAN IN CUERDLEY, I regularly carry out electrical repairs on wiring systems that have been failing.
There are different types of electrical situations that could be construed as an emergency such as:
An electrical emergency could be defined as any situation that affects the electrical system in such a way as to cause serious danger, risk to life or serious inconvenience. Whatever your emergency electrical needs, rest assured I am able to help you. Whilst I cannot always attend every single emergency call, I always make time to help over the phone and if you need an emergency electrician to attend then I will happily help.
Back to topThere are numerous possible causes for intermittent power loss to your home and some of these causes include disruptions in your mains power supply from the street. Before calling an emergency electrician to attend, it’s wise to call 105 freephone to speak with the Distribution Network Operator. The DNO are responsible for maintaining the electricity network and will be able to assist with information regarding any planned or emergency works that they are undertaking in your area that may affect your supply.
If it transpires that there are no known issues with the mains supply to your home then you will need an EMERGENCY ELECTRICIAN IN CUERDLEY to investigate the problem for you. There are potential causes in your home that could affect your electrical supply causing intermittent power loss and none of them are good!
Back to topThere are many switches inside modern consumer units and fuse boxes. Each of these trip switches are designed to carry out a specific electrical safety task. Their role depends upon their type and in the case of a circuit breaker, its job is to break the circuit when it detects gradual overload or large fault currents occurring. When a circuit breaker trips, it will either click of gently or 'pop' off with a varying level of volume / energy dissipation dependent upon the size of the fault current being disposed of.
If a circuit breaker is tripping off, it is important that the device is not continually reset. Doing so will likely result in damage to not only the device but to the electrical wiring in your property. If a circuit breaker is tripping, leave it turned off and have an electrician visit to investigate the problem by carrying out some electrical testing and fault finding. If the circuit breaker controls ALL the plug sockets in the house, then you may consider this to be an electrical emergency and decide to call an EMERGENCY ELECTRICIAN IN CUERDLEY.
In older electrical installations, it was common practice to wire up all the sockets in the house onto one circuit. As wiring has aged, this has begun to cause problems where an isolated electrical fault can result in the complete loss of plug sockets to the property.
Back to topKeep an eye out for cracked sockets and switches, discoloured electrical accessories like pull cords, cooker switches, and sockets. Any wiring that is frayed, damaged, scuffed or otherwise showing signs of distress should be replaced by an electrician. Where single insulation is on show outside of a plug top or extension lead, this should be repaired.
The sheath of an electrical cable is one of the safety measures that prevents electrical shock. The single insulation (brown, blue, green/yellow) should never be on display outside of an enclosure.
If your electrics are showing signs of distress then you should have necessary repairs carried out without delay. Consider having an electrical safety check carried out by your electrician to establish the condition of your wiring installation. A thorough inspection and test takes several hours and yields a report following the work. The report will tell you of any dangerous situation, potential dangers, or recommended improvements.
Back to topWhere your problems happen outside of normal working hours then consider turning off the affected electrical circuit at the consumer unit or fuse box. Calling an emergency electrician can cost more than an electrician during standard working hours and there may be limited repairs that can be carried out during the night time if major works end up being required.
