Back to topWhether there is cable damage, a trip switch that won't stay up, issues with the consumer unit or electrical panel, there is always a solution to the problem. We will carry out electrical fault finding and investigation to determine the cause of the issue with your home's electrical system and keep you updated along the way. This will allow you to make an informed decision regarding your electrical needs.
Back to topCircuit breakers are a type of Overcurrent Protective Device, they protect the electrical cables from overload and fire and will trip off when they detect either of these problems occurring. Often known as a Miniature Circuit Breaker (or MCB for short), these devices are quite small, contained in the consumer unit or electrical panel and will have a switch to turn them on and off. There are many markings on the switch that tell us the TYPE, RATING and Short Circuit Capacity of the circuit breaker.
When circuit breakers trip, they often do so to dispose of large electrical fault currents and as such, it is very unwise to continually reset these devices without investigation into the cause of the tripping.
There is always some form of electric shock protection in our homes. Each of the property's electrical circuits has various forms of protection to prevent us receiving and electrical shock. The most modern homes will have the best protection against electrical shocks in the form of a Residual Current Device (or RCD for short). An RCD is one of the devices that offers electric shock protection in our homes. The device must be of the correct rating (30mA) and correctly installed in order to correctly protect us. The device should also be checked regularly and inspected by an electrician to ensure that it is working correctly.
