Emergency Electrician - Birchwood⏱️

There are several kinds of electrical problems that would require you to need an EMERGENCY ELECTRICIAN IN BIRCHWOOD. Electrics are a complicated and dangerous system when things go wrong and as such, it’s important to recognize when emergency situations arise and when to call a professional.

Things to look out for⚠️

  • Burning Smells - This is never a good sign for electrical wiring. If you can smell a strange plastic, fishy, chemical type smell then there is every chance there is a small fire or melting occurring within the electrical system. Our electrical systems are comprised of metal wiring covered with a PVC insulation and Plastic accessories. When these items become too hot, they begin to melt and can catch fire causing that strange smell. If you can smell burning smells then its best to call your local emergency electrician.
  • Popping or Banging noises - These types of sounds indicate that there is likely a short circuit somewhere. A Short circuit is when a live wire touches earth or another live wire directly causing a very large electrical current to flow. When this happens there can be mini explosions which make popping and banging noises. Most modern consumer units would normally detect such problems and turn the circuit off but in some cases, this doesn’t happen leaving a dangerous situation to carry on.
  • Flickering or Dimming Lights - Lights are very sensitive to voltage changes. If there are electrical problems elsewhere in the electrical system, lights can be affected and this effect can be seen in the form of flickering and dimming lights. The concern for this type of issue is that there may be dangerous loose wiring somewhere causing this phenomenon. This type of issue should be inspected by a professional without delay as left alone it could develop into more serious problems.
  • Tripping switches - When a switch trips, it is to protect the electrical wiring in your home from harm. When a trip switch detects an issue it will turn the power off to one or more electrical circuits in your home. If it will not go on or will not stay on then it’s usually best to call an electrician. The trip switch trips and disposes of a large electrical fault current in most cases. This action can place a lot of stress on the trip switch and they will eventually fail. It’s important not to continually reset these switches as they can fail.
  • Crackling or Arcing sounds - The sounds of crackling or arcing indicate that electricity is jumping a gap between two parts. This could be down to loose wiring, faulty equipment or something else. In any event, it is not good and can cause a fire. High temperatures are generated when electrical arcing is occurring and this can cause fire if not investigated.
  • Intermittent power cuts - If you are suffering intermittent power cuts then the first course of action would be to establish if there are problems outside of your control such as the electrical supply from the street into your home. There are companies that monitor and repair the electrical network across the country and are responsible for the cabling and other electrical supply equipment to our homes and businesses. You can contact your local Distribution Network Operator in your area by dialing freephone 105 and following the instructions. They will be able to tell you if the intermittent power cuts are down to an issue in the supply or not. If not, then its best to call an emergency electrician to investigate the cause of the intermittent power cuts. This is not a normal situation and could indicate that there are dangerous live connections which could result in serious damage to your home if left without investigation.
