If you need NEW SOCKETS IN LIVERPOOL then we are here to help. Not a national company but a small local independent business.
Back to topIf you are tired of having to run an extension lead from one place to another or find yourself constantly unplugging one electrical appliance to plug another one in then its best to have some additional sockets installed.
A new socket or two can be really helpful around the home to prevent overloading extension leads or an existing socket. We have many more electrical devices now than ever before and many older electrical systems simply do not have enough sockets to cope.
We can convert a single socket to a double socket for you if you only need one extra socket. In some older houses, there is only one single plug socket in each room which is highly inconvenient these days so why not contact us to have them converted and more installed.
Back to topPerhaps you are updating your home décor and simply want something a little fancier than plain white light switches and electrical sockets?
We are able to supply and install new plug sockets, switches and other electrical accessories to better match your new decoration scheme. Perhaps you would like to have USB sockets on each side of the bed in order to charge your mobile phones?
Want smart sockets so you can turn devices on and off whilst you are in another room or outside the house? We are able to do this for you as well.
We can install many different types of stylish sockets for you including:
Flat Plate
Chrome
Brushed Steel
Gold
Brass

(New plug socket in kitchen)
In many cases, the electrical system can tolerate the installation of newer equipment even if the wiring is a little old. Where the electrical installation is several decades old, we would always recommend having an electrical inspection carried out before any other electrical work to check for electrical faults and to determine the condition of the electrics before adding to it.
As long as there are no serious issues, there is no reason why additional sockets cannot be installed onto older wiring.
There may be some electrical updates that have to take place to ensure that the electric shock protection is in place and adequate, the earthing and bonding is sufficient and that the system will comply with modern regulations once the work has been carried out.
In order to install your NEW SOCKETS IN LIVERPOOL we may need to check that the electrical outlet back boxes are sufficiently deep for your new preferred sockets. USB sockets and Flat Plate style accessories often require more room in the back box.
(A socket had been installed in a 16mm back box)
In these cases, they either need new boxes installing along with cutting more of the wall away OR spacers need adding to the front of the wall to give enough room in the back of the boxes (which looks awful).
The socket in the picture had been installed in a back box that was far too shallow. This resulted in a poor fitting loose socket and damage to the wiring.
Back to topOn occasion, there may be a situation where the existing power supply cannot supply a new plug socket or USB sockets. On these occasions it may be necessary to install a new electrical circuit (new wiring, electric shock protection and circuit breaker) or the existing wiring may need a new consumer unit and / or some upgrades.
We cannot normally change a circuit breaker for a larger one. This is because circuit breakers are installed to prevent overload and damage to electrical wiring and without installing new thicker wires it would be dangerous to change a circuit breaker for a larger one.
A qualified electrician is best placed to check the best way to install extra sockets. You are always in safe hands with us, we know the wiring regulations and are registered with the NICEIC (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors).
Back to topIf you have a faulty socket that you need replacing or investigating then we are on hand to carry this out for you. Whether it’s a new cable run, new installation of sockets, or replacing faulty sockets, we are happy to help.
If you suspect that a socket is faulty, try swapping the appliance you are using into a different socket to rule out an appliance fault. If the appliance will also not work in another socket then it is likely that there is an issues with the appliance fuse, plug, cord or internal components.
If the appliances work in other sockets, then it may well be the socket has gone faulty and in which case it needs investigating by a certified electricians such as NICEIC contractors like ourselves.
Back to topUnder the BS7671 wiring regulations in 2024 there are special requirements where plug sockets are installed in bathrooms or shower rooms. These rooms are classified as a special location and whilst it is POSSIBLE to have plug sockets installed, it is not recommended or allowed in most cases.
(Plug socket too close to danger)
Most bathrooms will not be able to comply with the new minimum distance from baths and showers of 2.5 metres. Where you have a larger home, it may be possible to install a plug socket for you in the bathroom but again, it is not advised.
Bathrooms are a high risk place electrically speaking as wet bodies and electricity should not mix as serious electrical shock can occur when this happens.
Back to topWhere you need some power in the garden it is possible to install an external socket for you to allow outdoor lights to be plugged in, some music or other form of outdoor appliance so you can enjoy the space better.
An External socket can normally be fed via an existing internal socket providing it is safe to do so. As skilled electricians, we can carry out the required testing and installation to ensure that your new outdoor socket can be installed safely.
Poor electrical installation carried out without specialised electrical test equipment is likely to result in electric shocks, burns or fire. Outdoor sockets especially need to installed correctly by a professional electrician due to the naturally, more risky, environmental conditions that is the outdoors.
There are many outdoor electrical sockets on the market but we only supply and install the highest quality sockets, they are easy to open for our customers and will outlast cheaper brands. The socket can also be replaced easily without having to purchase an entirely new unit should the socket part ever fail in the future.
Back to topIn existing wiring systems, we can install sockets at any height that you want. We find that it is best to have new plugs installed to the same height as the existing plug sockets, whether they are single socket outlets or double socket outlets.
We always recommend having a double socket installed rather than a single when you require additional plugs on the wall. This is because there is no real cost difference to the job and its best to have two rather than one, isn’t it? 😊
Back to topDouble wall sockets cannot handle any more power than single wall sockets. Nearly every plug socket on the market today is rated to a maximum of 13 amps with the exception of a couple of very expensive double sockets.
13 amps is more than sufficient for most applications although care should be taken not to overload the plug socket with too many appliances. Using high-powered appliances together in a double socket may lead to problems with burnt connection, melted plug socket and possible electrical fire.
