Hello and welcome to our website. You have found an Electrician in Woolton, Liverpool. We offer many electrical services to our clients with years of experience as NICEIC certified electricians.
Some of our services include dealing with:
All of our services are listed on our services page so if there is any work that you would like carried out, advice that you need on electrical works or need a quote for something then just get in touch and we will do our best to help you out.
I grew up in Woolton as a youngster and know the area well. I now cover a great area that includes most of Liverpool, Widnes and Warrington but always like to work locally when I can. Whether you are based down Hunts Cross Avenue or near Camp Hill I am sure that I will be able to help.
If you are in the middle of Woolton Village then the works we can carry out may be slightly more limited due to the impossibility of parking a large van but we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Unfortunately, we don’t cover as far as Maghull and Crosby but we know a great local electrician up there that could probably help with most enquiries should you need someone.
Back to topThere are various electrical problems that can occur in older Woolton homes. Many homes built along Manor Road and surrounding areas had old rubber wiring installed. Many of these have now been rewired but some still exist.
The trouble with rubber wiring is that it degrades over time and begins to turn brittle. When this is disturbed, it can flake away leaving live metal wires exposed giving rise to electric shock risk and short circuits. These installations should really now be rewired. 😊
With homes built a little later there was a short time period during the late 1960s where a specific type of cable was used with inferior plasticiser. This results in green goo leaking from the cables, sockets, and switches. Whilst it also looks unsightly it can result in cabling that is ruined and is the beginning of the need for a rewire.
On a positive note, most electrical problems are smaller issues that require an hour or so to put right so don’t worry about calling if you have a trip switch problem or flickering lights for example.
Back to topBefore buying a pre loved home, it is always sensible to check the condition of the property you are purchasing. Unfortunately, general property surveys DO NOT produce a full electrics check. There can be all sorts of hidden dangers, faults and problems with wiring systems that may not show up without a full system check from a professional electrician.
These electrical safety checks produce a lengthy report detailing the condition of the installation.
Not every electrician will perform a thorough check so you should ask how long the check will take them, how many electrical circuits are included, what will and won’t be inspected and so on. There is plenty of information on our site about electrical checks, how we carry them out and how long they should take. 😊
Back to topAn electrical wiring problem can result in a circuit breaker tripping. This can lead people to think there is a problem with the circuit breaker when in fact there could be issues with electrical appliances or with the electrical wiring in the system.
There can of course be circuit breaker problems too. When a circuit breaker goes bad, there is no repairing it. A faulty circuit breaker needs to be replaced by an electrician and needs to match the existing equipment in your consumer unit or fuse box. If you have an old fuse wire fuse box then we can replace the fuse wire for you or install a trip switch instead.
Don’t ever reset a circuit breaker more than once in a short period of time. If a circuit breaker is tripping then there is generally a good reason for it to trip. When a circuit breaker trips it is generally because it is dealing with a dangerous electrical situation and the associated electrical currents can be very large.
The circuit breaker has to safely dispose of these large fault currents and in doing so can become damaged. This is especially the case with short circuit faults and repeated tripping so make sure to have these issues investigated before further damage is caused.
Back to topIf you are experiencing power outages in Woolton then the first thing to check is that there are no local power cuts, works on the electrical supply or issues with the local electricity network. You can check for this by calling 105 freephone. This will put you through to the company that supplies the network and mains electric in our area which is currently SP energy Networks (2024). They will be able to tell you of any known problems or works that are taking place in the local area that might be affecting your supply.
If there are no known issues then you must call an electrician. Power outages can be a serious problem and can indicate that there are loose connections, damaged equipment, and fire hazard lurking in the electrical installation.
We are the Local Emergency Electricians in Woolton and we are able to tackle your out-of-hours electrical emergencies quickly. Check our emergency page for more information.

Back to topIf you find that the electrical system in your home is not sufficient for your needs then you need a qualified electrician like me to come and install additional electrical equipment, plug sockets and switches to ensure that you have all the available outlets you require.
Perhaps you have enough plug sockets but would like to swap the ones you have for new decorative ones and want a reliable electrician for the job? We are local electricians that can undertake this work for you.
We offer no obligation quotes for these types of jobs so you can make an informed decision which Woolton electricians best fit your needs. Our small expert team offers an efficient service carrying out work in line with the electrical safety standards to give you peace of mind.
Not all aftermarket decorative sockets can be fitted without resulting in damaged wiring and danger! There are some plug sockets that should not be installed in certain electrical installations and we are here to guide you through what is and is not possible for you.
We can recommend certain brands and styles that should work for most installations to ensure that the finished product not only looks good but doesn’t increase the risk of electric shock or wiring damage.
Back to topYou may have a very old consumer unit in your home if you live in the Woolton area. Many of our homes are up to 100 years old or more in the Woolton area of Liverpool and as a result, wiring systems have often not kept up to date with our electrical needs, may require electrical repairs or a new electrical panel / fuse box / consumer unit.
It is very often possible to update the consumer unit on an electrical installation although sometimes there can be electrical issues highlighted when installing a new consumer unit on old wiring.
Electrical Inspections are vital prior to the installation of a new consumer unit in an older property or with an older wiring system. A good electrical check before the new consumer unit is installed will prevent there from being circuits that need repairs, unwanted tripping of the new consumer unit, wiring that does not met electrical safety regulations and circuits that need to be left disconnected until wiring repairs have been carried out.
This is especially important for business owners. The last thing anyone needs as a business owner in Woolton is a consumer unit that will not switch on or is not safe to turn on until wiring repairs have been carried out.
